Frequently asked questions
Why does Filterio ask for access to Photos and Camera?
Photos (add): “Lets Filterio save processed photos and videos to your Photos library.” Photos (read): “Lets Filterio read the capture date of the photo or video you pick and apply filters to it. Photos and videos never leave your device.” Camera: “Lets you shoot with a film filter right in the viewfinder.”
You can change them any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security (or Settings → Filterio). Filterio does not ask for microphone access. Without camera access you can still process photos from your library.
Where are my processed photos saved?
When you save, the result is added to your Photos library at full resolution as a new photo — your original is never changed. After saving you can jump to Photos or share the result. If saving fails, check that Filterio is allowed to add photos in iOS Settings.
Can I choose the file format and quality?
Yes. In Filterio Settings → Saving choose HEIC (about half the size) or JPEG (opens everywhere) and set the compression quality.
Do saved photos and videos keep their date and location? How do I turn location off?
The original’s capture date and metadata are carried over to the saved copy, and location is kept by default. To remove coordinates, turn off Keep Location in Settings → Saving. The setting applies to photos (single, batch and Shortcuts) and to videos: with it off, location is removed from saved videos too. The creation date is always kept.
How do I use Filterio inside the Photos app?
Open a photo in Photos, tap Edit, then the ••• button and choose Filterio (the first time, you may need to enable it under More). The edit is stored with the photo and can be changed or reverted in Photos at any time. In Photos the edit never crops the photo.
Can I process many photos?
Yes — Multiple Photos… accepts up to 100 photos at once and applies the current look to all of them.
Can I filter a video?
Yes. Choose Video…, pick a video and process it. Every frame gets the same film look, sound is kept, and the result is added to Photos as a new video — the original is not changed. Crop to the camera format, date stamp and frames are not applied to videos, and HDR video is saved in standard dynamic range. The optional Filterio mark does apply to videos.
How do I use Filterio in Shortcuts?
Add the Apply Preset action from Filterio. Choose a photo, a preset (a catalog look or one of your own combinations) and a strength from 0 to 100 %. It returns a new image, and the app does not need to open. The result uses your save settings (format, quality, location, optional mark) and has no crop, date or frame.
Can I open photos from other apps?
Yes — choose Open in Filterio for an image in another app. The photo is processed on your device, and temporary copies are deleted.
What is the small “Filterio” mark in the corner?
It is an optional mark and is off by default. If you turn on «Filterio» mark in the corner in Settings (or in the Look menu), a small label appears in the bottom-right corner of saved or shared photos and videos, including batch and Shortcuts results. Switch it off any time.
Can I change the theme or language?
Theme: Settings → Appearance → Theme — System, Light or Dark. Language: Filterio is available in English and Russian and follows your iPhone’s language; other languages show English.
Are there in-app purchases or a subscription? How do I restore purchases?
Filterio is free and has no in-app purchases or subscriptions, so there is nothing to buy or restore. All features are available to everyone.
Will I lose my Favorites if I delete the app?
Favorites, your own combinations and settings are stored only on your device and are removed together with the app.
Are the film, camera and lens names real products?
No. Names in Filterio are descriptive and describe the character of a look. Filterio is not affiliated with film or camera manufacturers, and the looks are stylistic approximations.
